I can’t believe it’s already been over two months since I have moved to my new apartment. I know I have promised you pictures forever and here they finally come. I am not a 100% done with my decoration progress, I still need a second duvet cover and am planning on extending my little art gallery to the whole wall and possibly get one more garland for either over the door or bed. I love having it nice and cozy and I can’t wait to snuggle up in colder temperatures with some warm, dim lights and candles.

It is tough transitioning from a room that was four times the size of my new one. Not only because I can barely lay on the floor and starfish out without hitting myself on something, but also because it is really hard finding storage for everything I own, without making this place look super cluttered. Mostly I am doing a pretty good job but once I get ready for a nice dinner night or just school, I need half an hour afterwards freeing my bed from everything I threw on there. I am constantly moving things between my desk chair and bed, depending on where I want to sit or lay that moment but don’t get me wrong. I really like my place. I didn’t have the chance to decorate my room since I was 15, so my taste and ideas of a stylish and cozy room have changed a bit. A lot of interior inspiration came from – surprise – Pinterest. Although all white rooms and furniture is starting to get called names like “Blogger Syndrome”, I really like the look of it and disagree with anyone saying it looks cheap. My furniture is from Ikea, Target and Walmart and if you choose the right items it can look chic indeed.

The toughest thing to find was my night stand. Knowing I am moving again soon – the lease only goes until the end of May – I did not want to spend a fortune on something like a nightstand, especially because I have a headboard on my bed where I can put things. Even Target only offered nightstands, in white of course, for over $80 and that was more than I wanted to spend. I ended up finding this one with the chevron patterned top at Walmart.com and could not wait for it to get delivered. Not having the right tools to set it up made it difficult but my dad, who was here over my birthday with my mom, was determined to get it done and somehow managed to build the whole thing without a screwdriver. God knows how he did it. Can you tell he is German? (Stubborn). Shop some similar night stands on the bottom of this post!

The frames on the wall over my night stand are all from the sale section from Kohl’s and I spend a little less than $30 on all three of them which I think is a steal for that size and look! I wanted something nautical, beach inspired and these are the perfect fit with its washed beach house look. I am planning on adding many more to that wall but haven’t come across affordable looking frames just yet.

I also really like my inspiration board where I keep important notes, my class schedule, motivational quotes and style pictures. Originally I planned on making my own one from scratch that is also three times a big but it didn’t end up fitting in the spot I looked out for it. The polka dots are from Etsy and just a fun detail I wanted to add to my study area.

Some of my favorite things are items I got before I even moved in but thought they would look great to wherever I am moving such as my nigh stand lamp from TJ.MAXX, the dog tape suspender from Target and my Make Up Brush Holder also from TJ.MAXX. I always end up finding great things when I am either not there with the intention of buying or not needing anything. A recent example: I was really picky about my towels for some reason and looked for a couple weeks but never found the perfect shade of a towel (I know, that’s very important apparently!) so I ended up buying some that I liked but wasn’t in love with. One week later on a trip to Target: The most amazing looking, soft towel in the perfect shade of greige. Anyways. Towel shades aren’t my biggest concerns anymore. Phew.

My absolute favorite part is my new, giant mirror. I had the small $10 one from Target before, which did its job but I wanted something tall and wide enough to display my whole outfit without bending my knees. It also adds more dimension and depth to my room which is a nice bonus. The best part: It was only $49 and probably the happiest purchase I made this whole year! $49 guys!
